Course Description

This course gives an overview of the influence of religion on politics in Egypt. The first question addressed is “what is the proper role of religion in public life”. Several topics are addressed that look at this question in different ways. It discusses the role of religion in Egypt’s political history, public policies related to religion, and how religion influences political behavior with particular attention paid to certain religious groups especially Muslim Brotherhood after January 25 revolution.
