Course Description

Nature of hydrocarbon, characteristics of hydrocarbons, hydrocarbon reservoir engineering, hydrocarbon production methods (problems and trouble shooting), surface production facilities (construction & operations), oil and gas storage and transportation and quick view on hydrocarbons economics.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the course, the participant will be able to:

  • Discuss the nature of earth formations, structure geology, and hydrocarbons behaviors
  • Develop background information on how to reach hydrocarbons reservoirs by drilling
  • Identify rock and fluid characteristics (oil, gas, and water)
  • Understand the hydrocarbons production methods from the underground reservoirs to the storage tanks, with problems could be met and how to trouble shoot
  • Discuss the surface production facilities (construction and operations)
  • Know the basics of hydrocarbon economics
