Learning Outcomes

By the end of the course, the participant will be able to:

• Discuss the methodological approach and principles of radiographic interpretation and description of lesions
• Describe different carious lesions and the radiographic methods of their evaluation
• Describe different periodontal lesions and the radiographic methods of their evaluation
• Identify the different odontogenic and non-odontogenic cysts stressing on the most important clinical features and radiographic appearance
• Describe the different benign and malignant tumors with correlation to the radiographic features along with their most important clinical findings
• List different types of bone lesions (other than cysts and tumors) that have jaw manifestations stressing on the clinical features and radiographic appearance
• Mention the different types of inflammatory diseases affecting teeth and jaw bones, regarding their clinical and radiographic features with formulation of differential diagnosis
• Diagnose traumatic jaw lesions with understanding of their clinical features and different imaging techniques used for diagnosis
• Interpret radiographs of some teeth-related syndromes
• Assess maxillofacial fractures focusing on identity of foreign bodies in facial bones and soft tissues
