Course Description

This course will start with a brief overview of classical control systems and the basics of their design. The course will then introduce the fundamentals of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs); including their hardware architecture and connection with external components. It will also emphasize on the programming of PLCs using Ladder Diagram and Function Block Diagram. Several hands-on examples for different practical applications will be provided using kits specially designed for this purpose.

By the end of the course, the participant will be able to:

Identify the basics of designing a control system using classical methods
Understand the purpose, functions, and operations of a PLC.
Identify the basic components of the PLC and their function
State the basic PLC terminology and their meanings
Apply the concept of electrical ladder logic
